Well known for more than 145 peer-review scientific papers, Mats Börjesson, MD, is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Further he is Professor and the Head of the Center for Health and Perfomrance (CHP) at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at the University of Gothenburg and the Sahlgrenska University Hospital/Östra, Goteborg, Sweden. Besides being member of Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Europe, steering board since 2014, Mats Börjesson was chairman of various national and international societies: the section of Sports Cardiology, European Society Cardiology from 2008-10, the Swedish Society of Sports Medicine from 2013-15, the Swedish Society of Cardiology from 2016-18, the “Task Force of Physical Activity” and the WHO-network Health Promoting Hospitals from 2013-16. Further, he has been a member of the IOC Task Force on “prevention of non-communicable diseases” from 2013-14.
