Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Bloch

Prof. Dr. med. Wilhelm Bloch was born in Ingelheim, Germany, in 1959. I finished the study of medicine at the University of Mainz, Germany 1987 and received the M.D. degree 1994 (summa cum laude) from the university of cologne. I received the Venia Legendi for Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Cologne 2000 (best habilitation 2000 at the medical faculty of the University of Cologne). From 1991 to 2001 I was scientific researcher and assistant in the Institute of Anatomy, University of Cologne. From 2001 to 2003 I was Chief Scientific Assistant in the Institute of Anatomy, Cologne. From 2004 up to present, I am working as full professor at the German Sport University and I am head of Department of Molecular and Cellular Sport Medicine at the Institute of Cardiovascular Research and Sport Medicine. I derive the additional membership of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne 2005. I am member of the scientific board of the German Society of Prevention and Sport Medicine since 2008 and since 2011 chair of this scientific board. Since 2011 I am vice president of the german sport medicine society and since 2012 Member of the Scientific Committee European College of Sport Science (ECSS).
